Dream Project

YouthForce University Partner

Partner Since:
August, 2009

YouthForce partners with University of Washington’s Dream Project to support teens with college exploration and application.  Throughout the year, Dream Project Mentors support our workshops with their college planning expertise. Dream Project mentors support student’s application to Universities, community colleges, trade schools, or transfers.

About Our Partner:

The mission of the University of Washington Dream Project is to assist low-income and first-generation high school students in attaining higher education and to raise awareness among university students about the issues of educational opportunity and social mobility.

The Dream Project is a student-initiated college-access and retention program that partners UW students with first-generation and low-income students in Seattle area high schools to assist in the college admissions process (including SAT prep, applications, writing essays, applying for financial aid, and finding scholarships).

“The Dream Project partnership with YouthForce University has been a beneficial one for both our mentors and the students we get to work with. YouthForce is an awesome program that really develops kids in many different areas and it's a privilege for us to help in that development by being a partner at YouthForce University. As mentors, getting to know the students and seeing their growth is the best part about being involved in the Dream Project. Figuring out life after high school can be confusing and stressful and we do our best to make that process easier, while having fun in the process. Working with the diverse group of students is a pleasure, and it is the reason why we love weekends when we get to be at YouthForce University!” – Elaine Tran, Dream Project Lead for YouthForce
